Born and raised in Mexico City, María José's passion for science and technology started from a young age. Devoted in high school to UN Models, Women's Rights, and International Relations, María José understands the sociopolitical implications of climate change and the need for an intersectional approach in decision-making.
María José is pursuing a Bachelor's in Environmental Sciences and Sustainability at IE University in Segovia, Spain, which has allowed her to acquire the necessary skills to tackle multi-dimensional environmental challenges, such as Water Management Tech, Nature-based solutions, and Policy reviews. María José is excited to continue her research as a Water Challenge Ambassador, as she affirms that a healthy planet starts with a healthy water cycle.
In her free time, MJ enjoys discovering various cultures through travel, music, art, food, and books; she leads the Fashion Club and Photography Club on her campus, where she explores the intersection of culture and the environment.
