Maya is a high school senior from San Diego, CA. She is a youth ambassador for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association, the scientific research director of the Youth Oceanic Initiative, and on the 5th Cohort of the U.S. Youth Advisory Council for the United Nations Ocean Decade as part of the education working group committee. As a Water Challenge Ambassador, Maya hopes to engage youth to comparatively study water quality in her local community, ultimately increasing awareness of local water resources. In her free time, she enjoys figure skating, playing piano, and reading.
